Well, the next thing that follows after looking at social networks, is seeing how many people are playing games online. It's amazing to see how many people are sitting there playing any game, from Solitaire to Worls or Warcraft.
Actually, the ones like Second Life are quite cool, really ,ad I think I understand the concept of someone wanting to create a whole new life somewhere else.
What's not to like about having the opportunity to recreate myself as Britney "S" online with big boobs and enough money to feed Ethiopia (small African country filled with millions of starving people)? Ok, so I may actually be philanthropic, and use my L$ to actuallt feed people rather than buy a Ferrarri, but if I wanted to buy one I could! I love the thought of that.
It's kind of like an online Monopoly game! I wonder when they are gonna launch that?
A one-sided view of life and the things that go on in it, from a career person, family person, sane and mad person, trying to fit it all into one day !

Social networks
I'm running around looking and entering into the world of social networks.
It's an interesting concept, for the same reason as the social networks people build off line are also interesting.
The same rules of engagement and the same social rules exist in both models, as a whole. In the good ones you get intelligent, vocal people who offer value information and conversations and information. They answer forums, blog information as well, and they are activly engaged.
Then you get the 'inapropriate' type information - people that hand out information about other people, and people giving more information than is strictly good.
One should ( I think) use them more for introductions, and then find a 'private channel' elsewhere for you to talk further of offer further information. That seems better for safety, and for personal information exchange purposes.
Which is why chat is so scary - even through the private chats, you are still offering information in a (essentially) 'open' forum, without a relationship having been created independently of that platform.
Anyway, there is a LOT more work to be done here for me, and I'm looking forward to finding new and interesting information on a daily basis. I'll keep you posted.

Back from the holiday haze
Well, I went on holiday, and it was wonderful.
The one thing I can say about holidays is that they always make things look so much better when you have been on one!
The world looks like a more cheerful and better place, and the workplace looks like you can actually cope for a change!
I don't feel snowed under, but that's just cos I am easing myself into it gently.
I don't feel like getting too stressed out at the moment, and I'd likethe idea of being cool and collected and feeling totally in control to last just a little bit longer before it all spirals out of control again and I want to kill half the planet.
It seems that everything plodded along well whilst I was away, the dogs got fed and the house survived.
Not that I expected the house to fall apart, but I guess we were not missed too much.
The rule you need to remember - no-one is indeispensable, not even me! ( Quite sad for me to realise it) and so one must always try to be better than the next guy in order to be around longer. Even if it's just for a wek.
Happy 2007!
