So as most of you that read my FB know, I drove to Devon to go to a funeral of an old RAF Major, who was a boyfriend of my Mom's.
He was a great true stiff upper-lip Brit, who fought in WWII, and believed in all good British things.
He was the first man that actually taught me that there were men in the world who talked to kids. Were interested in what they had to say, and he tried to help my Mom a lot.
He failed with Mom, but he gave me hope about men and a better role model than any other I had.
I was friends with his kids for ages, and dated his younger son for years as a teenager. Often 'hiding' at their house rather than staying at mine with my Mom.
He had a degree from Oxford, wrote a book, ran Country Clubs, helped others and married 3 times. Boy was he one for the ladies too! They LOVED him! Who doesn't love a man that treats a woman like a porcelain doll, holds doors, chairs and has manners?
Bring it on!
Anyway, at the funeral I saw 2 people I haven't seen for 25 odd years (there is a theme here.......) and it was great to see both. Made me realise I must look older to everyone too - I just don't see it.
Luckily, one of the guys works at a cheese shop - YEE HAAA!!!! Old friendships are VERY cool!!
Stunning sunny day - gotta get out of bed but after the 9 hour drive I am feeling a little shattered. ##LOTS of coffee I think!!
