She was sitting in front of the screen, the white background blinding her as she searched the Google results for one specific website that had to be listed there . It had to be , she knew it had to be . She’d done the work herself, and she’d submitted the site to about a zillion websites and directories , in order to be listed on Google , and get higher ranking than the others . A tried and tested method , Sally scrolled through the pages and clicked on ‘ next ’ with the relentless hounding of a private detective on a case . It had to be there .
This was not a new occupation for Sally , she’d learnt the tip and tricks of the trade by doing all the little things required of a Junior search engine marketer had to do , day in day out , honing her skills and watching the others as they did their work , learning the tricks , and using them herself .
It was a war out there , it was a battleground for the best ranking on Google , or Yahoo , or MSN , or Miva , or Alexa , or Bebo , Exact, or any of the other well known one, but everyone knew that only Google meant anything . Yahoo or MSN , or Miva , or Alexa , or Bebo , Exact , or any of the other well known ones really didn’t even account for twenty five percent of the market place at all .
That was nothing where she came from, and it certainly was not going to help her in the SEO rankings at all if she didn ’ t rank well in the Google stakes . Of course , she had submitted it to Yahoo and MSN , and Miva , and Alexa , and Bebo , Exact , and many of the other well known ones . They all had taken the submissions, some took a long time to accept the submission, and some had to ask her to do it more than once , but overall most had gone through in the six week period she had started submitting .
